5 Question Friday – Campgrounds/Parks

I want to know more about you, so every Friday I’m going to share 5 things about me and hope you share back with me.

1. What is your favorite campground/RV park?
I think everyone knows by now that Harbor Town RV Park is our favorite. It’s clean, the staff is great, awesome amenities and it’s cl

2. What is your favorite theme weekend at the parks?
Halloween for sure! I love how everyone decorates their sites and their campers. I’ve seen so many different ideas and it’s amazing what you can do. We don’t think of it as just decorating your camper, because you can decorate just like it’s your home. It’s so fun, and the kids have a blast too. My kids love to hand out candy to others the most.

3. What is your favorite type of camping spot? (Pull-Thru, Full Hook-UP, Rustic, Front of Park)?

Pull-Thru, Full Hook-Up is ours. It makes setting up easier. When you get a paved pad that’s just bonus. I also like some type of paved road (either concrete or black top) It makes it easier for the kids to ride their bikes and helps to keep the dirt down from being tracked into the camper.

4. Do you pick your park based on attractions close by or the park?
There’s really not much around our favorite park. Toledo is about 30 minutes away and we’ve taken a trip down to the zoo and shopping. We haven’t been to a park because of the close by attractions. We are going this August to Duck Creek in Muskegon. It’s right outside of Michigan Adventures and we plan to visit that park.

5. Golf Cart?
We rented a golf cart once, and the kids loved it. We will rent again.

5 Question Friday

I want to know more about you, so every Friday I’m going to share 5 things about me and hope you share back with me.

1. What camper do you have?
We have a Outback Bunk House we bought new a few years ago. We love it! It’s perfect for my family.

2. Do you camp full time or for enjoyment?
We camp for enjoyment and try to camp as much as we can. We usually take 2-3 weekend trips a month, and 1-2 long weekend/holiday trips.

3. What have you done to customize your camper?

I haven’t yet, but would love to change the curtains. I hate them! Everything is so matchy-matchy to the other fabrics (couch, bedding, etc). I would love to start with our bedroom and see how that goes. I think the curtains will have to be custom and I don’t know how to sew.

4. Where are you from?
I grew up in Michigan, about an hour outside of Detroit. It’s very pretty here and up north is beautiful, esp in the Fall with all the leaves changing on the trees.

5. Do you have and/or how many kids?
We have two kids, one of each. My son is the oldest and he’s almost 7, my daughter just turned 4. My son is very sweet and really cares about everything and everyone. My daughter is an April baby, so she’s got her own mind and loves to share it. It’s quite funny on some days!

Particular Girl Must Haves For Camping

Yep, I’m a Glamper.  I don’t like to get dirty, overheated, and enjoy all the amenities of home when I’m camping.  So here’s my must haves for camping, Particular Girl style.

A Good Chair: I have this one, it’s extra tall and wide, that way the kids can climb on my lap and share their blankets with me as we snuggle next to the fire. I got it at Camping World and I highly suggest the extend warranty.  My last chair (not this brand) fell apart in 6 months and was expensive.  I’ve have no troubles with this so far.

Good Drink Glass: Every girl needs a cocktail by the fire and I have this mug from Starbucks.  My drink of choice is Raspberry Sky Vodka and Sprite.  This is double lined so your drink stays cold, and with the lid, keeps the bugs and fire ash out of your drink.

Beach/Pool Bag: We stay at RV parks that have pools, so you need a good beach bag.  I love this one by Kate Spade (found at Nordstrom)  because it’s not straw.  Made that mistake before, it starts to fall apart after it get’s wet.  And with 2 little kids, that’s going to happen often.  This is big enough for my keys, phone, book, sunscreen and the kids pool necessities (googles and diving torpedos)  I do wish it was a little larger to hold towels but that’s what hands are for, right?

Why am I here?

When we bought our camper everyone raised their eyebrow, ‘You? A Camper?’  Even my husband was surprised when we finally took the plunge to purchase.  I am proud to say I Am A Camper, but it’s camping my way.

We bought a 2010 Outback Bunk House complete with the outside kitchen (my fav part)

There’s a bunk area for the kids on one end, and our bedroom on the other. Kitchen/Living area and bathroom supplies you with all the comforts of home.  Who doesn’t love having their own shower???

The outside kitchen makes everything easy, there’s a sink, stove top, BBQ and fridge, and counter area to make a bar.

The kids and DH love the camper as much as I do.  The kids are 7 and 3 and beg to go camping every weekend.  I wanted to chronicle our life with the camper including life itself.  So, I plan on talking about the kids, DH, work, and anything else that makes me, me!

Do you camp and or have anything to chat about?
